Another major club achievement Club Secretary Patrick Hussey and our Stadium Manager Allan Blackmore recently won the Seniors Pairs Welsh Indoor Bowls Association National Championships.

This is only the second occasion that the Cardiff Club have won this competition the last been the late; David Gwilym / G. Taylor in 1998.

Well done a brilliant finish to the season from two of our distinguished Championship team members

          PAT                                ALLAN

Congratulations to Dan Salmon on winning the World Youth Championships in Australia, an outstanding achievement - well done from all at Cardiff Bowling Club

A superb 6 months starting with our Indoor Team becoming for the 19th time

CHAMPIONS OF WALES AGAIN IN THE 2016-2017 SEASON, 5th year on the trot

Congratulations to Captain Mark and all his team.

Well done lads who showed the required mental strength to keep going.

NOW YOU HAVE TO REPEAT THAT ACHIEVEMENT FOR 2017-2018.  Why Not???

One of our Sunday league teams, Cathedral, won that indoor league for the third successive year whilst our other side, Pontcanna, continue to improve.

Welsh Under 25's champion was achieved by Dan Salmon.

Damion Doubler, Mark Harding and David Harding were crowned the British Isles Indoor Bowls Council Triples Champions.

The Wales -v- England Test Series was held in Bristol and the winners were

Emma Woodcosk, Mark Harding and David Harding.

2017 was a summer?? of success for our PG1 side which gained promotion to Division One.

Congratulations to Captain Gary Duffy, his selectors but above all to the players involved.

Now the hard work starts - to stay and prosper in the highest level of Private Greens competition in Wales.

The ladies also had a very good summer, reaching the finals of the Glamorgan County and Welsh National finals.

Emma Woodcock, Sue Beecham and Judith Wason won the Glamorgan County Triples.

Judith Wason then went on to win the Welsh 4 wood singles and we wish her all the very best for her trip to Australia where she will be competing in the Champion of Champions.

Emma Woodcock is in the elite squad and is a contender for selection for the Commonwealth Games.

Another Mention in Despatches for the Clubs most senior Officer

Howard Davies, Vice President and Trustee of the Cardiff Bowling Club, is the Immediate Past President of the British Isles Indoor Bowls Council until March 2018 which will then complete a period of 4 years during which, if he continues as he has done for the last three years,  he will have fulfilled his role with dignity and humour, and obviously thoroughly enjoyed the office. Congratulations from all at the club on this outstanding achievement.

The Chamelions, a club for people of all ages with special needs, has been playing indoor bowls at our club for many years under the guidance of their dedicated coaches.
Indoor bowls is one of the sports included in the Special Olympics, held this year in Sheffield, and the Wales team were very successful, remarkably so.
The bowls team won a total of NINE GOLD, 6 SILVER and FIVE BRONZE and all involved are to be highly commended.
It is hoped that the National Associations will take note of this achievement and help to foster the sport for those with special needs at more clubs in Wales.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the continuation of our tournament calendar for 2018 in Cardiff as Wales is now the seventh country to stage a Short Mat Players Tour event.

The Welsh Grand Prix will take place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March 2018 at Cardiff Bowling Club. Comprising two separate one day events, Saturday 24th March sees the Welsh Grand Prix 2-Bowl Pairs and Sunday 25th March is the Welsh Grand Prix 3-Bowl Pairs. Players will have the choice of entering either one of these events, or entering both and competing for an additional prize awarded to the player (or players) who achieve the best aggregate performance over the weekend.

SMPT Director Simon Pridham explained: “We are delighted to be able to continue to bring the Tour to Wales, which marks the launch of our next phase of development. We are enjoying growing numbers of Welsh entrants at our events and we are keen to increase the promotion of our sport in this part of the world. He added: “Cardiff is a vibrant city and a fun place to visit. We are sure it will be a popular choice with our supporters. With even more events on the horizon, this is an exciting time for us.”

The progress being made at the Club is massive.   Apart from the new indoor carpet and lighting a couple of years ago followed by replacement/repair of all the roofs last year we have now replaced the indoor heating system, new lighting has been installed in all the social areas of the Club  and the decoration of the Club has been completed.
The start of the 2017/2018 indoor season will see the activation of our new key entry system to  complete the package, which began with the installation of  new tills linked to the clubs computer system.
